Jo Davis’ Bio

Award-Winning author Jo Davis spent sixteen years in the public school trenches before she left teaching to pursue her dream of becoming a full-time writer. An active member of the Romance Writers of America, she’s been a finalist in the Colorado Romance Writers Award of Excellence and has captured the HOLT Medallion Award of Merit.

Jo writes hot romantic suspense for Signet Eclipse. Her sexy series, the Firefighters of Station Five, launched in August 2008 with TRIAL BY FIRE amid rave reviews from Barbara Vey of Publisher’s Weekly, Romantic Times Book Reviews, Romance Junkies, and more. Michelle Buonfiglio of Romance B(u)y The Book named TRIAL BY FIRE  “YEAR’S BEST CONTEMPORARY” and “DEBUT OF THE YEAR” on her list of The Best Romance Reads of 2008. UNDER FIRE debuted in May 2009 on the Bookscan bestseller list and HIDDEN FIRE debuted in December 2009 on the Bookscan bestseller list and took #11 on the Ingram bestseller list.

Jo also writes scorching erotic suspense for NAL. Her first thriller, WHEN ALEX WAS BAD, is in development as a major motion picture with Mandalay Pictures. The book-to-film deal sold to Academy Award-winning producer Cathy Schulman, President of Mandalay Pictures, who took home the Best Picture Oscar for Crash in 2006. The book has also earned excellent reviews, including a 4 ½ Star Top Pick rating from RT Book Reviews.

Jo is currently working on the conclusion of the Firefighters series, is writing the SHADO Agency series for NAL Heat, and is busy crafting a new romantic suspense series. She lives in Texas with her husband, Paul, and their two children. Her life goal is to become rich enough to afford a delicious cabana boy named Alejandro to attend to her every whim.

Page to Screen: An Erotic Thriller

After a hiatus this summer Page to Screen, PW's roundup of news about books being sold (or about to be sold) in Hollywood, is back. This week an erotic thriller fetches a hefty sum and gains studio attention.

Roberta Brown, of Brown Literary Agency, has sold film rights to a 2009-slated erotic thriller by Jo Davis called When Alex Was Bad. Producer Cathy Schulman, whose credits include Paul Haggis' Best Picture-winner Crash and the indie Thumbsucker, optioned the book for high six figures; IPG's Joel Gotler was the co-agent. The book, which NAL is publishing, follows a wife who, in an attempt to save her marriage, allows her husband to live out a series of sexual fantasies with other women. A murder plot ensues.
